Towels are the textile your guests touch most often, and the one they form an opinion about fastest. A thin, tired towel undoes a lot of good work elsewhere in the room. We have been cutting and sewing hotel textiles in our own workshop in Comarnic, Prahova since 1991, and towels are one of our main lines, alongside hotel bed linen. Prices start at 12 lei per towel, VAT not included.

What GSM means, in plain terms
GSM stands for grams per square metre. It is simply the weight of one square metre of the terry fabric. A 400 gsm towel weighs 400 grams per square metre; a 600 gsm one weighs 600 grams over the same area. More weight means more cotton in the pile — more loops, longer loops, or both.
A lighter towel is thinner, dries quickly, costs less to buy and is easier on your laundry. A heavier towel absorbs more water, feels denser in the hand and looks more substantial folded on a shelf, but it costs more per piece and takes longer to dry.
There is no single correct GSM. The right weight depends on where the towel will be used and how often it goes through the wash. Our guide to towel weights works through the same question in more detail.
Which weight for which area
- 350–400 gsm — pool, gym, kitchen and staff use. Dries fast, light in the laundry, lowest cost per piece. Ideal where towels are used once and washed immediately.
- 400–450 gsm — hand towels and face cloths in standard rooms. Small items that are replaced daily do not need great thickness.
- 450–550 gsm — bath towels for standard and mid-category rooms. This is the usual working compromise between feel, absorbency and laundry cost.
- 550–650 gsm — upper-category rooms, suites, spa and wellness areas. Noticeably denser to the touch, for rooms where the finish is part of what you are selling.
- 650 gsm and above — bath sheets and signature pieces. Very absorbent, but heavy and slow to dry; check your laundry capacity before you commit to a full set.
Cost per wash, not cost per towel
The purchase price is only part of the picture. A hotel towel goes through hot water, detergent and a dryer again and again, and that is where the real cost sits. Two things decide how long it survives: the quality of the cotton yarn and the way the towel is finished — hems, border, stitching density at the edges.
A cheap, loosely made towel that has to be replaced sooner can cost more in the end than one that lasts, even when the unit price looked lower. Our textiles are made to take repeated industrial washing.
Weight also affects running cost. A heavier towel holds more water after the spin, so it spends longer in the dryer. Using 600 gsm towels at the pool is an expensive habit. Matching the weight to the area is the simplest way to cut running costs, and the only thing guests notice is a better towel where it counts.

The sizes and weights above are the usual reference points in the trade, not a fixed catalogue. We cut and sew to order, so any other dimension, shape or colour is possible — useful if you are matching towels to an existing set, to a bathroom shelf of a particular depth, or to a room concept described in our solutions by sector.
Materials
We work with 100% cotton. Cotton is what makes a towel absorbent; blends with synthetic fibre can feel smooth at first but push water around rather than absorb it. Weights differ from product to product, chosen to suit the item and the area it serves, and every towel is made from fabric chosen to stand up to repeated industrial laundering.

Embroidery
Your logo stitched onto the border of the towel. A usual choice for guest room towels, and simple to repeat on a later order.
Woven jacquard
The name or mark is woven into the border as the fabric is made, so it is part of the towel rather than something applied on top.
Printing
For events, seasonal ranges and pool or beach towels where you want colour and graphics rather than a discreet mark.

Why order from the workshop
We are a manufacturer, not an importer. Our textiles are cut and sewn here in Comarnic, which means you talk to the people who actually make the goods when you want a different size, a colour match or a logo placed a certain way. The workshop has been running since 1991 and the company has been registered since 2003. How to order
We sell business to business, by quotation. There is no shopping cart, because towel orders are rarely standard: the price depends on weight, size, quantity and the type of personalisation. Send us the number of rooms, the areas you need to cover — guest bathrooms, pool, spa, back of house — and any logo you want applied, and we will come back with a price and a specification for each item.
